![]() This French Rococo swept plaster frame is handcrafted in Yorkshire THE FRENCH ROCOCCO FRAME The term Rococo is often associated with the overly elaborate ornamentation found in the French palaces where it first appeared. In reality the 18th century rococo period is more accurately defined by the combination of elaborate curves, stylized shell motifs and a sense of asymmetry born out of traditional Arabesque design. Our French Rococo frame is a great example of theses themes with its sweeping curves, stylized shells surrounded by pierced corners and delicate floral Patten, the design risks being overly elaborate, but the subtle asymmetry of the overall design keeps it in perfect harmony, once again the random cracked Patina of the piece picked up by our unique making technique seams to add to the beauty of it. |
